OUaT Fandom versus Potter fandom
Things that were common in Potter fandom: May to December romances, underage, beastiality, non-con, incest, necrophilia, sex magic, teacher-pupil shenanigans, many, many uses of animate plants, giant squid tentacle kinkiness, giants, twincest, necrophiliac incest.
I feel so old and corrupt when I hear people are shocked by Hooked Fire. The man who loved his mother and wants to kill his father. Um. Sounds awfully like Snape/Harry to me. And believe me, there is a LOT of that.
Also the Potter fandom was as mad as a box of cats back in its heyday. Thankfully I was a bit too young to be fully involved with some aspects of fandom back then lol.
But seriously another thing that the Harry Potter and OUAT fandom, particularly the Rumbelle section, have in common is that they have both spoiled me in terms of good fics. There are both so many great fics and fic choices in each that when I go into my other fandoms and only find a handful of truly superb fan fics I’m like “wtf is this?” “Where are the epically written AUs?” “Why are there only 4 chapters?” “Where are the rest of the fics!?!?”
